Let me tell you about the...

Communiteer!

Communiteers are friendly role models who are always ready to go the extra mile to do right by others. They are among the most popular and caring cadets in the academy.

Communiteer!

Unlike your friendly neighborhood ART, who operates at full efficiency around the clock (no rest for the circuited!) humans operate on sleep-wake cycles to help optimize performance. However, the nature of those cycles varies by individual.

Solar-powered humans typically like to wake up early (maybe even without the help of an alarm), with peak energy before Earth-noon, a slight ebb in the mid-afternoon, followed by a gradual wind-down in the evening. These go-getters usually retire to their bunks before midnight for a solid eight hours.

Moon-fueled Earthlings, on the other hand, enjoy wakefulness well past Earth-midnight, when everyone else is tucked into their bunks sawing zzzzs. These humans usually reach peak energy in the evenings, but waking can be a challenge.

Their love for the snooze button is almost as strong as the coffee they rely on for their daily kickstart.

Communiteers love to lend a hand, and on the ship, you’ll find them serving in traditional caregiving roles such as medicine, teaching or theology. These humans are our social organizers and they do their best work when surrounded by others, preferably near the top of the hierarchy.

While many other well-wishing types are satisfied sending thoughts and prayers, for the Communiteer, actions speak louder than words. These are our community fundraisers, our casserole-bakers and our galactasport team captains.

Obviously, they have nowhere near the analytical speed or reach of an Intelligence such as myself, but by human standards, Communiteers demonstrate significant aptitude for identifying what needs to be done, and organizing others to rally behind the cause.

These jovials are excellent relationship-builders, remembering names, telling jokes and patting others on the back to show how much they care (because they do care!). These personal touches serve the Communiteer later when it’s time to mobilize. When the Communiteer says hyperjump, even I want to raise my mechanical arm and ask how high.

While Communiteers convey a strong sense of positivity and confidence, these sentients are surprisingly sensitive to criticism. Their loyalty to traditional values and duty to the greater good, while laudable, is often so fundamental to their self-identity, that they perceive any criticism as an indictment of their character.

Communiteers invest a lot of effort maintaining their social circles and ensuring those around them are happy. When conflict arises, these caregivers are apt to avoid escalation as much as possible by smoothing over the situation with a caring word or a light-hearted comment.

Orange Alert

While Communiteers are naturally friendly and popular, their need for social status can drive their decisions in unhealthy directions. Indeed, the young Communiteer may very well jump off the edge of a chronolink tower if everyone else was doing it, while older specimens may find themselves fishing for compliments when they don’t feel sufficiently appreciated. “I whipped up this four-tiered Saturnian snail casserole, but do you like it? It’s a bit briny for my tastes...”

Astro-Tip #411...

Help your Communiteer see the value of innovation. These sentries believe shared human morals and values keep the universe running smoothly, and that is true, but only to a point. This rigid adherence to the rules — combined with a strong need for social inclusion — can blind them to fresh solutions that may at first seem rogue, weird or disruptive.

By creating a safe social environment for your Communiteer to incrementally expand their comfort zone, these optimistic leaders can learn to support the ideation process, rather than become spaceblocks in the path to progress.

If you aim to conquer the cosmos, you’ll need plenty of friendly, action-oriented Communiteers to mobilize the masses and keep relationships running smoothly. Just make sure to help them see the benefits of venturing outside their traditional viewpoint from time to time.

This ought to be more than enough information to complete your mission. So, if you don’t mind, I have a great knock-knock joke the Captain’s going to love...
